Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by decorating your headphones with cheery paper rainbows, bright green shamrocks, and a lucky pot of gold!

Kids will love making this fun and creative St. Patrick’s Day paper craft activity that temporarily decks out their headphones for remote school or online gaming with friends. Remote teachers can get in on the fun by embellishing their own headphones for their class.

My lucky St. Patrick’s Day headphones DIY paper craft project features a curved rainbow on the headband, a leprechaun’s pot of gold on the ear speaker, and festive shamrocks on the other ear speaker.

This easy St. Patrick’s Day craft activity takes just a few supplies that you probably already have at home. Grab the kids and decorate their headphones for a magical St. Patrick’s Day!

How to Make DIY Rainbow Headphone

Supplies:

  • Kathy’s Lucky DIY headphones printable template (PDF)
  • Astrobrights cardstock paper in Rocket Red™, Pulsar Pink™, Cosmic Orange™, Solar Yellow™, Martian Green™, Gamma Green™, Lunar Blue™, Celestial Blue™, Planetary Purple™, Gravity Grape™, and Eclipse Black™
  • Paper scissors, craft knife, self-healing cutting mat
  • Removable tape. Choose tape that’s strong enough to hold yet won’t leave adhesive on the headphones - blue painter’s tape and clear gift wrapping tape are good choices.
  • Headphones with a headband
DIY Rainbow Headphone Template

Step 1: Print my templates onto Astrobrights cardstock paper: pot of gold on Eclipse Black or Gravity Grape, gold coins and pot shadow on Solar Yellow, shamrocks onto Gamma Green and Martian Green, and rainbow strips onto all colors.

Step 2: Cut out printed pieces. Use a craft knife and self-healing mat for small details.

Step 3: Fold the end of a rainbow strip ¼” for an overhang. Tape this folded edge to the front side of your headphones, then tape to the flat edge of the headband. When you reach the headband edge, fold that end, trim ¼” for an overhang, and tape.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 for the entire rainbow on the headband.
